I've managed quite well for many years with traditional headlight technology. The steering responsive feature is awesome, but if it costs an arm and a leg to replace, I'm not sure I want it. Anti-glare LED headlights are easier on the eyes. This makes them better at illuminating the road so you can see clearly. Halogens offer 3200 lumens while LEDs can produce 5000 12000 lumens. Hopefully, as the designs mature, these issues will be resolved. Bright light emitting diodes (LEDs) are brighter than halogen and HID lights. If not, you have factory halogen headlights. Retrofits are generally a gamble, and often downright unsafe, but, from what I've read, some of the most modern stock LED headlights from major automakers are actually less safe than old halogen technology (mostly lower cost vehicles, of course). Do you have headlight washers They would look like a triangular plastic cap or cutout on the bumper in front of each headlight. HIDs fail either at the capsule or the ballast, neither of which will cost you much more than $100 to replace, and replacement is simple. It sounds as though these LED units are not serviceable, although I haven't seen much posted on the topic. At this point, I think maintenance costs might favor HIDs since I've come across at least one report here of an Outback owner having to replace a single stock LED headlight and their dealer billed $800 for the repair. The LED projector headlight uses LED headlights bulbs. LED projector headlights: This is the newest technologies. HID bulbs are too bright when used in reflector headlights, for the light they emit can blind other drivers. Xenon HID bulbs can only be used with projector headlight. The high power LED is certainly the more promising technology, but it's a bit early to get a clear picture in terms of performance and reliability. The HID bulbs are much brighter than traditional halogen bulbs. Inside this blog there is a short video, if you watch the video, she changes a Prius HID in 2 minutes without removing the bumper Luscious Garage Blog Prius headlight problem, D4R HID bulbs still overpriced, not covered under warranty. I think the takeaway here is that both technologies can give excellent results when properly implemented, but you're not guaranteed any particular level of performance with any light source.
